The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ukraine USAID Ukraine has begun working with the newly created State Customs Service in a number of areas, including financing the TAPAS project to develop a “single window” mechanism at customs during clearance procedures (this includes a declarant’s e-office and the opportunity to independently file declarations).
“It was this summer: USAID Ukraine officially prohibited the U.S. government from implementing any customs projects due to a lack of confidence in management. Now USAID began working with the new customs in three areas. The work is ongoing,” head of the State Customs Service Maksym Nefyodov wrote on Facebook, posting a photo with U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine William Taylor during the signing of a memorandum on the implementation of the U.S. technical assistance project.
In addition, USAID will take part in the project “Competitive Economy of Ukraine”, where they will finance an upgrade of an automated risk analysis and management system and the development of the public and internal part of business intelligence. USAID will also finance the INL/MOM project, namely the development of recruitment, training and verification programs for customs personnel, as well as PR support for recruiting new people and building public confidence.
