Ukraine’s power plants in January-July reduced electricity generation by 2% YoY, to 90 billion kWh.
Over the period under review, thermal power plants (TPPs) cut power generation by 2.6%, to 34.7 billion kWh, which accounted for 38.6% of the country’s electricity generation, the State Statistics Service said.
Nuclear power plants (NPPs) generated 48.7 billion kWh, up by 4.5% (6% of power generation). Hydro power plants (HPPs) reduced power generation by 39.7%, to 5.2 billion kWh (5.8%), the report said.
Electricity generation from alternative (renewable) sources of energy, such as the sun and wind, rose by 45.4% and by 29.7%, respectively. Solar power plants and wind farms generated 1.4 billion kWh, which accounted for 1.6% of the country’s electricity generation. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
