Finance Ministry in 2018 borrowed UAH 286.5 billion, or $10.6 billion, to finance the deficit of the national budget.
In particular, foreign loans were estimated at UAH 112.3 billion ($4.2 billion), while domestic borrowings totaled UAH 174.2 billion ($6.4 billion), according to the ministry’s website.
The Finance Ministry also informed about the structure of last year’s external borrowings: $725 million in short-term eurobonds, $2 billion in long-term eurobonds, EUR 500 million in macro-financial assistance (MFA) under the European Union’s fourth MFA program, and EUR 349 million in a loan against the World Bank’s guarantees.
