Ukrainian farmers have already sown 95% of the projected area totaling 6.8 million hectares with winter crops, the press service of the Agrarian Policy Ministry reports.
“As of October 23 the Ukrainian farmers have sowed 6.8 million hectares with winter crops (95%), with a projected area of 7.2 million hectares,” reads the report.
In particular, the farmers have already sown 5.9 million hectares with winter wheat (95%), with a projected area of 6.2 million hectares; 114 thousand hectares (78%) with rye, with a projected area of 147 thousand hectares; 819 thousand hectares (94%) with winter barley, with a projected area of 872 thousand hectares; 1.0 million hectares (114%) with winter rapeseed, with a projected area of 888 thousand hectares.
As to the harvesting campaign, the Ukrainian farmers have already threshed 54.5 million tons of grain crops from an area of 13 million hectares (88%) with a yield of 41.9 hundredweights per ha. In particular, 34.3 million tons of early grain and leguminous crops have been harvested from an area of 9.9 million hectares with a yield of 34.8 hundredweights per ha; 19.5 million tons of corn from an area of 2.8 million hectares (62%) with a yield of 68.2 hundredweights per ha; 131 thousand tons of buckwheat from an area of 104 thousand hectares (96%) with a yield of 12.6 hundredweights per ha; 72 thousand tons of millet from an area of 48 thousand hectares (92%) with a yield of 15.5 hundredweights per ha.
In addition, 12.8 million tons of sunflower seeds were threshed from an area of 5.7 million hectares (95%) with a yield of 22.3 hundredweights per ha; 3.9 million tons of soybeans from an area of 1.5 million hectares (89%) with a yield of 25.4 hundredweights per ha; 2.7 million tons of rapeseed from an area of 1.0 million hectares with a yield of 26.1 hundredweights per ha.
