DTEK Renewables and GE Renewable Energy entered into an agreement on the construction of the second phase of the Prymorska Wind Electricity Plant (WEP) with a capacity of 100 MW. The plant will be equipped with 26 wind turbines of the GE 3.8 MW class, which will be delivered to Ukraine and installed at the WEP site in 2019
The second stage of Prymorskaya Wind Electricity Plant will be located on the shore of the Sea of Azov in Zaporizhia region. GE’s Onshore Wind business will supply 26 wind turbines with a capacity of 3.8 MW each for the Primorskaya WEP project. This wind turbine model is one of the most advanced technology developments of GE Renewable Energy, which offers high efficiency even at low wind speeds.
The construction of the second phase of the Prymorskaya WEP will begin in the fourth quarter of 2018 and is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2019. This will be the third project of DTEK Renewables in the onshore wind power sector. After construction of the second phase of the Prymorska WEP, the company’s portfolio of implemented projects in onshore wind generation will reach 400 MW.
The total planned investments in the second phase of the Prymorskaya Wind Electricity Plant will amount to approximately EUR 150 million, which is comparable to the investments made for the construction of the first phase. The financial transaction closed with a consortium of German banks in August this year for the first phase of the Prymorskaya WEP project was one of the largest in terms of external debt financing closed in the Ukrainian Renewable Energy sector over the last five years.

The Prymorskaya Wind Electricity Plant, when fully completed with a total capacity of 200 MW, will generate approximately 675 million kWh of “green” energy annually. This amount of electricity is enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 300,000 average Ukrainian households. Thanks to the wind farm, the saving in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere will be more than 700,000 tons per year. (SCM/Business World Magazine)
