Today the food industry of Ukraine covers nearly 90% of the domestic consumer market with the quality food products. Moreover, the industry plays an important role in the foreign trade, forming more than 50% of the turnover of the agricultural area of Ukraine, declared the deputy minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine on European integration Olga Trofimtseva.
“The food industry contains more than 40 branches and plants and the industrial production of the food products is carried out by more than 5000 enterprises that produce a wide range of food products. Annual foreign direct investments to the food industry amount to nearly $3 billion, more than 25% of the total foreign direct investments to the industry of the country,” she noted.
“I would name the food industry the engine of the economy of Ukraine taking into account the importance of the food industry for the agricultural sector and its development. Without forming of value chain, the deeper processing and export of the finished products under the brand “Made in Ukraine” there will be no effective development of the agricultural sector and the economy of Ukraine,” emphasized the deputy minister.
