Elektroavtotrans Communal Enterprise of Sumy city will purchase new trolleybuses using loan funds totaling EUR 4 million that have been provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the press service of Sumy City Council has reported.
“Sumy, Lviv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv are among the cities with which Ukraine and the European Investment Bank (EIB) last year concluded an agreement on financing the Ukraine Urban Public Transport Project. Loan proceeds are provided for the modernization of public transport vehicles and, where appropriate, related infrastructures in the selected Ukrainian cities. Under this agreement, Sumy will receive EUR 4 million to purchase new trolleybuses. The documentation is under development,” the press service reported.
It is noted that the Sumy city budget for 2018 envisages UAH 12.5 million for co-financing (to pay VAT) for the first batch of trolleybuses, which are expected to be delivered this year, according to preliminary information from the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine.
