The surplus of Ukraine’s balance of payments in May was estimated at $266 million. As was the case last year, the country’s current account balance was close to zero, the National Bank of Ukraine said on its website.
However, it did not share information about the balance of payments for the period from January to May, nor did it provide data for comparison with similar periods of 2017.
The NBU said that the current account deficit for January-May expanded to $415 million from $308 million in the same period of 2017. Net capital inflow on the financial account in May stood at $307 million, while foreign direct investment amounted to $150 million, it said. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
