Ukraine produced 42.8 thousand tons of ice cream in January-May, up by 1.7% YoY, Ihor Bartkovsky, the president of the Ice Cream and Frozen Foods association of Ukrainian producers, said.
“In January-May the production of ice cream in Ukraine amounted to 42.8 thousand tons – an increase of 1.7%. Over the reporting period 2.9 thousand tons were exported – an increase of 23.1%. Ice cream exports to the EU countries account for 8% of total exports”, he said.
According to Bartkovsky, companies that are members of the association have been undergoing voluntary quality control checks of their products in laboratories since 2016.
“All samples of ice cream tested this year meet the norms and requirements,” he said.
In 2017, 96.8 thousand tons of ice cream were produced in Ukraine, up by 2.4% YoY. Also, over 5 thousand tons were exported – an increase of 13.5%. Ukraine’s ice cream is exported to 50 countries. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
