The new Ukrainian low-cost airline SkyUp Airlines has received an air operator certificate that gives it the right to perform flights, the company’s press service has reported.
During the first stage, SkyUp will use two 189-seat Boeing 737-800s produced in 2013 that had previously been used by Malaysia Airlines. Now these aircraft are being repainted in Bratislava and Istanbul. They have already been assigned Ukrainian registration numbers UR-SQA and UR-SQB. Later the company will replenish its fleet with a 149-seat Boeing 737-700.
At the first stage, SkyUp will perform charter flights for the Join UP! Tour operator whose owners are the ultimate beneficiaries of the new airline.
Later the company will begin to conduct domestic low-cost flights between Kyiv and Odesa and between Kharkiv and Odesa. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
