Ukraine has successfully tested the new 152mm artillery ammunition produced by the state-owned Kyiv-based Artem, which is a part of the country’s major arms producer UkrOboronProm. Thus, Ukraine has secured own production of large caliber artillery ammunition, according to Pavlo Bukin, CEO at UkrOboronProm (UOP).
Commenting on the results of the latest tests, Bukin said the new HE projectile was designed to destroy enemy manpower, artillery and firepower, as well as fortification structures. It is designed for one of the most far-ranging artillery systems, Hiatsynt.
Pavlo Bukin emphasized that other UOP enterprises, besides Artem, were also engaged in ammunition manufacturing, producing initiating agents, explosives, and blasting powder.
“Cooperation between UOP enterprises allowed us to master artillery ammunition production in the shortest time possible and to meet the requirements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is an important step, which further increases combat capability of the Ukrainian Army,” said Pavlo Bukin.
He informed that artillery projectiles by Artem were awaiting a series of tests under the control of the Ministry of Defense representatives before their serial production was launched. The latest tests were conducted at a military training ground in Chernihiv. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
