The state-owned Oschadbank, the leader in the number of branches in Ukraine, in October-December 2017 closed 102 structural divisions, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported on its website.
As of January 1, 2018 the branch chain of the bank had 3,305 branches.
The top three most active banks in optimization of their chains, apart from insolvent banks, are also bank Sich (Kyiv), which cut the number of its branches by 17, to 40, and Ukreximbank – by 16, to 65 branches.
The most active in development were Industrialbank (Zaporizhia) expanding its chain by 71 branches, to 104 after a merger with Express-Bank (Kyiv), as well as A-Bank – by seven, to 211, Radabank (Dnipro) and Bank of Investment and Savings (BIS-bank, Kyiv) – both by four, to 24 and 32 respectively.
The number of branches of Ukrainian banks in Q4 2017 fell by 226, and since early 2017 – by 827, to 9,489. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
