Port of Tallinn as been shortlisted for the Green Port/Terminals of the Year Award by the DPC Innovation Awards 2017.
The award spotlights a port or terminal that has demonstrated an active and innovative response to the preservation and promotion of wildlife, reduction in air emissions, water quality, treatment of soils/sediments, community engagement and sustainability.
Port of Tallinn proposed its’ nomination for Old City Harbor’s sustainable cruise terminal. Port of Tallinn is developing Old City Harbor’s cruise area with the principles of sustainability and smart solutions in mind. The port is developing a new and environmentally compatible cruise terminal, which is full of innovative smart solutions, so that the guests of Tallinn arriving by cruise ships can enjoy smooth and convenient services. While developing the cruise area Port of Tallinn has also taken initiative to protect the Baltic Sea by building a micro-tunnel, which enables cruise ships to discharge unlimited amounts of sewage.
