Linseed exports from Kazakhstan totaled 29 KMT in January, i.e. almost half as much as in December (57.5 KMT) and up almost by 86% YoY.
Altogether, linseed supplies to foreign markets in the five months of 2016/2017 reached a record 175.3 KMT that consolidated Kazakhstan’s position as one of the world’s top exporters of this oilseed. This season’s export trade is up almost by 25% from the same time last season (140.4 KMT). The 2016/2017 increase in export potential directly depends on the bumper linseed crop of 562 KMT (up by 12% against the 2015 harvest).
Kazakh linseed exporters are going the way of diversification of destination markets. This season’s number of importing countries (26 countries) has already exceeded last year’s statistics. As before, the traditional leaders are Belgium (39% of total exports), Afghanistan (28%), Poland (8%) and Germany (7%).
Shipments to Egypt, Singapore, Romania, Spain and Sweden started in MY 2016/2017. At the same time, the top five importers still absorb a considerable portion of Kazakh linseed (over 87%). (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
