Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) amounted to $11.95 billion in January-November 2016, down by 21.1% YoY, Kazakh Statistics Committee said.
Kazakhstan’s exports to fellow EAEU countries decreased by 26.8% to $3.48 billion in this period, while imports were down by 18.5% hitting $8.47 billion, said the committee.
A lion’s share – $11.11 billion – of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the EAEU countries accounted for the trade with Russia. Despite this, Kazakhstan’s exports to Russia decreased to $3.11 billion in January-November 2016 as compared to $4.21 in the same period of 2015. The country’s imports from Russia amounted to $7.99 billion in the reporting period as compared to $9.75 billion in the same period of 2015.
Kazakhstan exports mineral products (33.5% of the total volume of the country’s export to the EAEU), metals and metal products (25.6%), chemicals (18.7%), products of animal and vegetable origin and ready foodstuff (10.8%) to the EAEU countries.
The country mainly imports vehicles and equipment (24.7% of the total volume of the country’s imports from the EAEU), chemicals (17.1%), mineral products (16.6%), products of animal and vegetable origin and ready foodstuff (14.1%), metals and metal products (12.5%) from the EAEU countries.
In 2015 Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the EEU countries decreased by 28.6% YoY to $15.77 billion.
