In October Kazakhstan continued exporting flour at the fastest pace in five years. 248.1 KMT of flour was supplied to foreign markets, up by 33% YoY.
For the two months of the season, Kazakh exporters built up flour deliveries by 27% to 425.1 KMT against 335.2 KMT in the same period in MY 2015/2016.
Afghanistan is consolidating its position as the top importer of Kazakh flour. In September-October the country imported twice as much Kazakh flour as at the same time in 2015/2016 (about 300 KMT against 148 KMT respectively). Uzbekistan, on the contrary, slashed purchases by almost 30%, to 107.3 KMT. Tajikistan and Turkmenistan also reduced imports to some degree.
However, noteworthy is growth of Kazakh flour shipments to China’s market – to 1.9 KMT against 0.4 KMT in September-October 2015. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
