In January-November Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny handled 36,239,800 tons, down by 17.8%, YoY, Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority says.
According to the statement, this makes 30% of total throughput of Ukraine’s seaports (120,717,900 tons).
In the 11-month period the growth was shown by the following sectors: metal – 89,400 tons (+73.1%), containers – 73,800 TEUs (+51.5%), oil – 944,100 ton (+7.4%), other cargo – 1,249.1 tons (+41.3%).
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 27,117,900 tons (74.8% of the total volume), import – 4,392,500 tons (12.1%), transit – 3,457,400 tons (9.6%), coastal trade cargo – 1,272,100 tons (3.5%).
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny. (Portnews/Business World Magazine)
