By 2050 the annual production of grain crops in Ukraine will total nearly 90 million tons, including nearly 50 million tons of grains for exports, the advisor to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vladyslava Rutytska declared.
According to her, China will become the main country-importer of Ukrainian grains. Nearly one half of grain volumes produced in Ukraine, goes to Asia, but the figures will significantly increase in the future.
The Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olga Trofimtseva reported that despite the large-scale volumes of Ukrainian products supplied to the Chinese market, the share of Ukraine in the structure of Chinese imports was still very small. Ukrainian agricultural supplies form 1% only of the general Chinese imports in the agricultural sector.
Also, the Head of the Department of economic cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Council of exporters and investors at the ministry Alexander Danileiko reported that first of all, Ukraine had to change the structure of its exports to China, and not only to increase the volume of agricultural products supplying. According to him, to date the country mainly exports raw materials (for example, corn) to China, which does not create added value. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
