Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) amounted to $9.26 billion in January-September, down by 26.4% YoY, Kazakh Statistics Committee said.
Kazakhstan’s exports to fellow EAEU countries decreased by 31.6%, to $2.75 billion, while imports were down by 23.9% hitting $6.5 billion, said the committee.
A lion’s share – $8.66 billion – of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the EAEU countries accounted for the trade with Russia. Despite this, Kazakhstan’s exports to Russia decreased to $2.48 billion in January-September as compared with $3.54 in the same period of 2015. The country’s imports from Russia amounted to $6.18 billion in the reporting period against $8.01 billion in the same period of 2015.
Kazakhstan exports mineral products (33.4% of the total volume of the country’s export to the EAEU), chemicals (19.9%), metals and metal products (24.9%), products of animal and vegetable origin and ready-made foodstuff (10.2%).
The country mainly imports vehicles and equipment (24.4% of the total volume of the country’s imports from the EAEU), mineral products (15.8%), chemicals (17.9%), products of animal and vegetable origin and ready-made foodstuff (14.2%), metals and metal products (12.6%) from the EAEU countries.
In 2015, Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the EEU countries decreased by 28.6% to $15.77 billion as compared to 2014.
