In the beginning of 2016/2017 MY, the export rates of Ukrainian grains demonstrated rather high rates. In particular, in the beginning of the season Ukraine exported record volumes of barley, the First Deputy Chairman of the Board at State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine PJSC Borys Prykhodko declared.
According to him, the export volumes of Ukrainian barley will be evenly distributed throughout the current season, and Saudi Arabia (over 40%), Libya and China will remain the main countries-importers.
Prykhodko noted that the exports of wheat also showed record rates (only in August Ukraine supplied 2.85 million tons of the grain to foreign markets). Countries of Southeast Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and South Korea) became the main delivery destination. He added that the fact that the authorities of India reduced the import duties on wheat to 10%, provided significant support to market participants, because the country was a fairly promising market.
Despite a rather high level of ending stocks of grains and high global production level, the demand for Ukrainian agricultural products will remain at the high level. However, to date the global prices for agricultural raw materials almost reached their minimum for nine recent years, summed up Prykhodko. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
