The Ukrainian antimonopoly committee has filed a suit to the Kiev Economic Court to enforce recovery of a $3 billion penalty from Russian gas maker Gazprom, an official of the committee reported.
The committee imposed the fine in 2015 to punish the company for its monopolist position on the transit gas market. Gazprom said it was baffled by the decision because it did not operate in Ukraine but conceded its gas to state energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy on the border with Russia.
Gazprom challenged the ruling, but all Ukrainian courts dismissed its complaints. (Prime/Business World Magazine)
