The state could support Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers by creating equally competitive conditions with foreign manufacturers, Deputy Health Minister Roman Ilyk has said.
“There is no secret that in other countries the state supports pharmaceutical manufacturers, directly investing funds and making orders. There is no such possibility in Ukraine. We can create equally competitive conditions so that Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers have a chance to develop using market methods”, he said at a meeting of the public council of the Health Ministry.
Ilyk pointed out unequal conditions for registering pharmaceuticals by foreign and Ukrainian manufacturers.
“We have facilitated the access to the Ukrainian market for imported medicines. Imported drugs enter our market under a simplified procedure, but we did nothing to help Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers so that they had a chance to freely handle the products”, he said.
“If we speak about honest competition, it must be honest in all aspects. If it is dishonest competition, let’s say that we put Ukrainian manufacturers in unequal conditions”, he said.
In August the government relaxed the registration of imported medicines in Ukraine and narrowed it to 10 days. The registration procedure for medicines, which have been registered by authorized agencies of the United States, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, Canada and the European Union, has been relaxed.
