In 2016/2017 MY the share of domestic consumption of flour in Ukraine will decrease to 87% of its general production, against the average index of 91% during five recent years. At the same time, the forecast of Ukrainian flour exports in the current season totals 370 thousand tons, up by 7.5% YoY (344 thousand tons), the Director of the Association “Millers of Ukraine”, Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency Rodion Rybchinskiy declared.
In physical terms, the volume of domestic consumption will reach 2.4 million tons from the general production of 2.7 million tons, according to official statistics, he said.
Rybchinskiy estimated the average monthly export rates of Ukrainian flour at 29 thousand tons. However, in 2015/2016 MY Ukraine significantly increased the imports of flour to 22 thousand tons per month, mainly at the expense of the growth of rye flour supplies. In March-August of 2016, Ukraine imported nearly 4.5 thousand tons of flour per month. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
