Ukraine’s State Fish Agency expects that under a EUR 400 million agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) some EUR 130 million would be provided for projects in aquaculture and fishing industry.
According to a press release of the agency, parliament has ratified the agreement between the EIB and Ukraine to raise EUR 400 million for projects in agriculture.
“We anticipate that one third of the funds under the EIB loan will go to finance aquaculture and fishing industry, for credits for aqua-farmers, to develop small and medium-sized enterprises”, the Agency head Yarema Kovaliv said.
He said that it was for the first time when fishing industry was seen as a separate direction in the large international financial assistance program. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
