The initiative of Ukrzaliznytsia to increase the cargo transportation tariffs by rail in 2017 by 25% is unreasonable now, the tariffs should be increased no earlier than summer and the percentage by which they will be increased should be set much lower, the head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on industrial policy and entrepreneurship Viktor Halasiuk said after a roundtable devoted to the influence of the tariff policy on industry and economy.
“The publication of the resolution of the NCER (the National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation) about the six-fold increase of the cost of the unconventional connection to power lines should be prevented, while NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) should investigate in this large-scale fraud,” Halasiuk wrote on his Facebook page.
He is convinced that today the cargo transportation tariffs cannot be increased by 25%.
“They can be increased no earlier than summer and by the lower percentage. A compromise should be reached with the sector associations – metal, iron ore companies, farmers and others,” he said.
“The Economic Development and Trade Ministry and Finance Ministry should be forced to start a dialog and protect the interests of industry. These ministries have broader tasks than the introduction of the ProZorro (e-procurement system), privatization or servicing cooperation with the IMF. Own industry should become the highest priority not on paper but in real life,” he said. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
