The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal visited the substations of NPC Ukrenergo and other electricity generation facilities in Kyiv and Kyiv region, which are systematically attacked by Russia. He inspected the consequences of the latest enemy strikes and the state of repair work.
According to Denys Shmyhal, repair work on the damaged energy facilities continues as soon as the security situation allows. The head of the Ministry of Energy also thanked the energy workers who were working around the clock to restore the energy supply.
During the visit, Denys Shmyhal heard reports from the management on the restoration of damaged facilities, the construction of shelters and protective structures, equipment stocks, and readiness for the winter period. Separately, they discussed the assessment of the enemy’s possible intentions and countermeasure plans.
They also considered urgent needs that could be covered through the Energy Support Fund, as well as those that required the active involvement of partners. Denys Shmyhal noted that the Ministry of Energy, for its part, was doing everything to distribute the necessary equipment from energy hubs to the regions as quickly as possible.
This year, energy equipment worth over 39 million euros was purchased for NPC Ukrenergo through the Energy Support Fund. In particular, these include power transformers, batteries, and other equipment and materials. In addition, almost 520 tons of aid were distributed to the company from the Ministry of Energy’s humanitarian hubs, including transformers, generators, and cable products.
Special attention was paid to the protection of key Ukrenergo substations. Currently, work is underway to install engineering protection at 170 facilities. Work has already been completed on almost 120 facilities, construction and installation work is underway on others. Financing is provided by grant and loan funds, as well as the state budget.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized the need to accelerate work on protecting energy facilities in order to prepare them as much as possible for the winter period. (Energy Ministry)
