The global giants of the digital market are increasing the volume of VAT payments to the state budget. In the first quarter of 2026, revenues from the “Google tax” amounted to UAH 4.5 billion. This was reported on her Facebook page by the Acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh.
“The dynamics are positive: +28% per year. Last year, international companies paid UAH 3.5 billion of tax on electronic services in the first quarter,” she added.
In total, in 2026, non-residents have already paid:
– EUR 41.7 million;
– $54.2 million.
The leaders in paying the tax are global technology giants: Apple, Google, Valve, Meta, Sony, Etsy and Netflix.
Ukraine is an attractive market for content consumption. To date, 152 non-residents who carry out such operations in Ukraine have already registered as VAT payers.
The tax is paid by foreign companies (non-residents) that provide electronic services to individuals in the customs territory of Ukraine.
This includes, in particular, services with online advertising, access to video and audio content, cloud solutions, software and other digital products.
“This is about fair competition and equal rules for Ukrainian companies and international giants. This is a significant additional resource for financing defense, the social sphere and economic recovery. Thank you to every payer!” emphasized the head of the State Tax Service. (State Tax Service)
