The way the Road Fund’s resources were used in 205 for repairs and for maintaining the national public road network, as well as the budgeting for 2026, were the topics examined at a meeting of the Road Fund Council, chaired by the Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
In total, a budget of about 2.59 billion lei was allocated for carrying out maintenance and repair works on national public roads in 2025. According to the budget execution report presented by the State Roads’ Administration, the amount used for all executed works was about 2.51 billion lei in 2025, which accounted for 96.7%.
As much 802.5 million lei was allocated for the maintenance of national public roads. Among the measures implemented, there are summer and winter maintenance interventions on national public roads, the construction and arrangement of passenger stations and the arrangement of roundabouts, intersections and pedestrian crossings.
Also, from the total amount, 1.1 billion lei in financial resources was earmarked for the reconstruction and repair of national public roads and engineering structures, while more than 61 million lei was spent on road design and assessment works and land acquisition.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the Road Fund Council’s activity plan for 2026, as well as the draft Programme on the allocation of Road Fund resources for national public roads for 2026. For this year, an initial budget of about 1.8 billion lei has been allocated for national public roads, meant primarily to improve driving conditions and enhance traffic safety.
The Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized the need to use modern technologies in the execution of road infrastructure works, so that they were as durable as possible.
“Our country has turned into a construction site and this is encouraging. We must continue building good roads, ensure good access to all settlements and work actively, so that the works progress as quickly as possible,” said Munteanu. (Moldpres)
