The number of Chinese brand car dealerships in Russia in 2025, against the backdrop of a sharp decline in sales of cars from China, fell by 7%, to 2,600 outlets, with their share dropping from 67% to 64%, writes “Kommersant”, citing calculations by “Gazprombank Auto Leasing” and “Auto Business Review”. In total, 643 showrooms of Chinese passenger and light commercial cars closed in Russia over the year, which is 40% more than in 2024 (when about 460 closed, and in 2023 – 187). 459 dealerships opened – three times less than in 2024.
According to Alexander Kornev, head of the department for work with importers of “Gazprombank Auto Leasing”, last year about 25% of Chinese car stores were closed or reformatted under another brand. He noted that over a hundred auto retailers refused to purchase cars from China in favor of working with domestic assemblers of “Chinese” clones. According to “AUTOSTAT”, in 2025, the decline in the volume of the Russian car market reached almost 16% – 1.33 million cars were sold. Of these, 769.6 thousand were cars from China (-23% in annual terms), reported the director of the agency, Sergey Tselikov, the day before (The Moscow Times).
