In the Donetsk region, the number of food and processing enterprises has almost tripled from 79 to 27 since the start of the full-scale war.
This was stated at a briefing by Olena Rybakova, deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Complex and Land Resources of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
“As for the situation in the food market of the region, we have 79 enterprises of the food and processing industry left in the controlled territory. But as of today (after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine), only 27 of them are operating, of which 14 enterprises are in the bakery industry,” Rybakova said.
She noted that large bakery enterprises, which were in the Donetsk region in Bakhmut, Siversk and Toretsk, were currently not working either due to the occupation or due to enemy shelling.
The largest bakeries are in the cities of Sloviansk and Druzhkivka. According to Rybakova, bread is also imported to the Donetsk region from the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions.
Speaking about bread prices in the region, she said that they had changed slightly since the beginning of the year.
“Compared to the beginning of the year, the price of rye-wheat bread in the region increased by 3%, wheat bread by 7% and sliced loaf by 20%, while the price of Borodynskyi and Dorozhnii bread decreased by 10% and 5%, respectively,” the official stated. (Ukrinform)
