In 2017-2022, more than 29 thousand national model driving licenses were obtained by the inhabitants of the Transnistrian region.
According to the Reintegration Policy Office, of the total number of permits issued, 6,863 were issued in 2021 and 5,783 in 2022. Permits are obtained based on the simplified exchange mechanism, applicable from May 2020, without taking additional exams.
Also, according to data from the State Register of Transports, in September 2018 – December 2022, at the means of transport registration points in Tiraspol and Rabnita, 9,644 non-commercial vehicles from the Transnistrian region were documented with neutral model plates. In Tiraspol, their number was 6,704 and in Rabnita – 2,940.
At the same time, there was a significant decrease in the registration process with neutral plates in 2022 (555 registered vehicles), compared to 2021 (4,780 transport units).
“This is a direct effect of the limitations intentionally imposed by Tiraspol on the provision of primary registration services in the stated subdivisions. Also, a demonstrative indicator is that in the last period of time private people and legal entities from the Transnistrian region are massively documenting with driving licenses and national model registration plates, issued by the territorial subdivisions of the Public Services Agency on the right bank of the Dniester,” the press release of the Reintegration Policy Office reads.
