Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister, in Davos, praised the rate of Poland’s economic development and said that the country was aiming to speed it up.
“Poland is a developed economy and we still have an appetite for further growth. And we are ready to accelerate the pace even more,” he told a discussion panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on May 24.
Citing the McKinsey reports, Morawiecki pointed out that Poland belonged to a group of technologically advanced countries.
“The digital economy in the region grew by nearly 8% annually, and from January to May 2020 this pace was twice as fast, reaching the level of 14.2% in Poland,” he said.
He also noted that the internet giant Google had recently invested nearly $1 billion in Poland.
“World technological leaders see that Polish specialists are among the best in the world,” Morawiecki said.
The Polish prime minister also referred to Russia’s war on Ukraine, “as some think it may disrupt the development of Poland”.
“I can assure you that we will not allow what we have been working on for the last 30 years to be taken from us,” Morawiecki said.
He added that Poland was not only a country with development prospects, but also “a gateway to the East”.
“Investing in Poland means much more than the guaranteed profits. It is mainly an investment in the stability and security of the entire West,” Morawiecki said. (The First News/Business World Magazine)
