Drogerie dm, Germany’s largest chain of retail stores offering cosmetics and healthcare products, has opened its first shop in Poland.
The first store opened in the western city of Wroclaw on April 21. The cost of the launch came to EUR 0.4 million.
Drogerie dm will have to compete with fellow German firm Rossmann, which is well established in Poland having opened it its first store in the country two decades ago.
Drogerie dm has also opened an Internet store in Poland, which has become its 13th foreign market.
Last year’s revenues of Drogerie dm, which operates over 3,800 stores in 12 countries, totaled EUR 12.3 billion.
Rossmann operates 1,578 stores in Poland in 600 towns. Its revenues in Poland last year came to PLN 9.6 billion (EUR 2.1 billion), up by 9.3% YoY. (The First News/Business World Magazine)
