Ukraine exported 18 million tons of wheat in 2021-2022 MY. It has 15 million tons of wheat left in the country, declared Mykola Gorbachev the president of Ukrainian Grain Association on March 15.
“Minus 4 million tons Ukraine consumes per year, and we still have stocks sufficient for 3 years. Even if we do not do planting,” he pointed out.
Gorbachev is sure that Ukraine will not face hunger, as it harvested record high 107 million tons of grains and oilseeds last year, including 33 million tons of wheat and about 40 million tons of corn.
“Ukraine planted winter wheat throughout 6.5 million ha. It is an average level. We expect the crop to reach 28-30 million tons, down from 33 million tons last years. It is difficult to provide any exact forecasts, as much depends on spring weather,” he noted. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
