As of January 1, cash in circulation in Ukraine totaled UAH 627.6 billion, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) posted on Facebook.
“As of January 1, cash in circulation amounted to UAH 627.6 billion, in particular: 2.95 billion banknotes worth UAH 622.6 billion and 13.99 billion coins (excluding commemorative and investment coins) worth UAH 4.8 billion. This is UAH 69.1 billion or 12.4% more than at the beginning of the previous year,” reads the report.
As of the beginning of January, the average number of banknotes per one Ukrainian citizen was 71 pieces and coins – 162 (as of January 1, 2021, 72 and 149, respectively).
200-hryvnia banknotes and the 10-kopeck coins were most common cash in circulation. The least common cash in circulation were the 1,000-hryvnia banknotes and the 10-hryvnia coins. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
