Lithuanian Airports (LOU), the state-owned airport operator in Lithuania, plans to buy self-service baggage drop-off equipment.
The airport operator wants to start using ten self-service baggage drop-off stations at Vilnius Airport’s new terminal scheduled to be completed until mid-2024, Marius Zelenius, head of communication at LOU, has said.
It would be a one-step system that would allow travelers to scan their travel document, weigh their luggage, print out the tag and drop off their baggage. The system capacity should be at least 2 million items of registered baggage a year.
LOU operates Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports. The three airports recorded 1.8 million passengers and 30,000 flights in 2020. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
