Uzbekistan has completed the construction of a new airport in Sokh district of Ferghana region, which borders with Batken region of Kyrgyzstan.
The new air harbor is set to directly link the area surrounded by the territory of Kyrgyzstan with the Ferghana region and reduce the dependence of local residents on the highway passing through the neighboring state.
Mayor of the Fergana region Khairullo Bozorov said that test flights would be launched in the coming days.
The new $640,00 air terminal has a 700-meter runway.
Construction work started in February at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. (Uzreport/Business World Magazine)
