In January-September, the Freeport of Riga handled 15.28 million tons of cargo, down by 13.5% YoY.
According to the port’s statistics, handing of grain increased by 13.1%, to 1,984,600 tons, ore – by 15%, to 526,600 tons, wood pellets – by 7.7%, to 1,630,200 tons, sawn timber – by 83%, to 437,400 tons, and timber – by 27%, to 2,040,500 tons, while coal and coke handling fell by 88.3%, to 278,900 tons, chemicals – by 10.8%, to 977,900 tons, wood chips – by 35.6%, to 554,600 tons, and oil products – by 20.3%, to 1,593,100 tons.
The port’s container throughput fell by 8.7%, to 307,741 TEU.
Passengers traffic plunged by 99.3%, to 2.005 million people. (PortNews/Business World Magazine)
