In the next three years, EUR 20 million will be invested in the new Laima manufacturing plant in Adazi, as reported by representatives of Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvija.
The total area of the new manufacturing plant will be approximately 6,500 square meters.
“The location chosen for the new plant will secure Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvija growth opportunities in production capacity and long-term strategic development perspective in Latvia,” says Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvija chairman Toms Didrihsons.
He adds that after the relocation of production activities from Miera Street to Adazi, the company’s administration and Laima Chocolate Museum will continue working in the historic Laima building. “We will look for opportunities to develop existing Laima property situated on Miera Street, possibly in cooperation with Latvian real estate market representatives.”
Design work of the new manufacturing plant has commenced. Architect bureau “Valeinis un Stepe” is in charge of the design. Because this stage will be affected by the coordination process, it may take an entire year. Construction is planned to commence in the first half of 2018 and to end around Q1 2019.
