The safety of education remains one of the Government’s key priorities. For the first time this year, a sum worth UAH 1 billion has been allocated from the state budget for the construction of shelters in preschool educational institutions. These funds will be used to build at least 20 kindergartens with shelters in various regions of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko has announced.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure and conditions for providing subsidies from the state budget to local budgets for the construction of shelters in kindergartens. Communities can apply for funding if they have projects on the DREAM platform.
Applications will be accepted from January 20 to January 26, inclusive, until 6:00 p.m. The funds are planned to be distributed by the end of February, thereby allowing the construction activities to begin as soon as possible.
The following are eligible for state subsidies:
– Preschool education institutions with a total number of pupils of at least 100;
– Special kindergartens;
– Institutions that are unique in their community, where the educational process takes place in a full-time or mixed form, or in which two or more kindergartens operate simultaneously.
“In conditions of constant hostile shelling, shelters in kindergartens are a space for a safe and continuous educational process, especially in frontline areas,” said Yulia Svyrydenko. (Government portal)
