The state has invested UAH 5 billion in the development of small and medium-sized businesses through grants since the launch of the Government’s eRobota grant programme. A total of 8,753 Ukrainians have already received grants to start or expand their own business. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko.
“Almost 9,000 Ukrainians have already received grants from the state to start or develop their business under the eRobota project. More than 2,000 of them took the grants to start their own business, while others took them to scale up their business, increase production, develop and launch new areas. In total, the state invested UAH 5 billion in boosting entrepreneurship through grants. These investments are not only in the development of small and medium-sized businesses, but also in improving the situation on the labour market, as grant recipients will create about 35,000 new jobs by implementing their projects,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
In total, since the launch of the eRobota project in July 2022:
– UAH 1.9 billion have been issued under the Own Business programme;
– 487 grants worth UAH 2.5 billion;
– 8,013 microgrants worth were issued for the development of processing enterprises;
– For gardening and greenhouse cultivation – 133 grants for UAH 555 million were issued;
– Veterans and their family members – 120 grants for UAH 45 million.
Both existing entrepreneurs and people with no business experience can apply for a grant. Applications are submitted through the Diia portal along with a business plan. A prerequisite for receiving a grant is the creation of new jobs – from 1-2 in the case of a microgrant to several dozen in the case of grants under other programmes. The grant funds are returned to the State in the form of taxes and fees paid in the course of the company’s operations over three years. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
