The total amount of donor commitments for grant contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has reached more than EUR 322 million. Of this amount, EUR 192 million has actually been transferred to the Fund’s account by 15 public and private donors from different countries. The remaining amount consists of pledged contributions that are expected to be credited to the Fund’s account in the near future. This was stated by Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the enemy has been doing everything possible to damage or destroy our energy system. And had it not been for the enormous efforts of our military, energy specialists and international partners, they would have succeeded. The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has become an effective tool for attracting grants from partners for the purchase of equipment,” the head of the Ministry of Energy said.
The minister recalled that the Ministry of Energy had a working group on the organisation of humanitarian aid in the energy sector, which was working to process requests for the necessary energy equipment and fuel from fuel and energy companies. In view of the significant damage to equipment and the growing needs of the energy sector for repairs and restoration, the working group has already approved requests for equipment and fuel worth more than EUR 310 million.
Contributions to the fund have been made by public and private donors from Germany, the UK, Sweden, Austria, Iceland, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Hungary, as well as the European Commission and the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA).
Between January and early October, the fund concluded more than 200 agreements for the purchase of energy equipment. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
