Almost 6,500 unemployed people have been engaged in socially useful work as part of the Army of Recovery project, for which the state has already paid UAH 40 million. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna.
“Since the beginning of this year, almost 3,000 unemployed people have been involved in the Army of Recovery who are performing socially useful work. Recently, such work has been launched in Mykolaiv region, which has become the eleventh region to join the project. In total, since its launch in the fall of 2022, almost 6,500 unemployed people have received payment from the state for the restoration work totaling UAH 40 million,” said Tetiana Berezhna.
The largest number of unemployed people are involved in the Army of Recovery in Poltava region – 2018 people, Kyiv region – 1099 people, Sumy region – 1064 people and Donetsk region – 938 people. They are paid at least UAH 6,700 for performing such work, which is higher than the average unemployment benefit a person receives while registered at an employment center.
The types of community service jobs depend on the needs of a particular region. In particular, the unemployed are involved in clearing rubble and restoring residential buildings damaged as a result of hostilities, arranging basements for shelters, packing humanitarian aid, cooking for the military, weaving camouflage nets and providing social services at the Points of Invincibility.
