Over 70 representatives of poultry farms from the Republic of Moldova discussed at an international symposium supported by the EU the latest news from the poultry sector related to various highly contagious diseases such as salmonella, bird flu and Newcastle disease.
According to Iurie Scripnic, state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), the sustainable development of the livestock sector is a priority, and specialists are trained in activities to adjust national legislation to European Union rules.
“Our country needs to take more actions to become a member state of the EU. The pre-accession funds are a necessity, but in order to be able to access them, we must make complex efforts to adjust the national legislation to the European one. It is important that during this period, the business environment increases its competitive potential. We are developing new subsidy measures. In addition to direct payments per head of animal, payments will also be offered per kilogram of product: milk and meat. At the same time, we will support the economic agents who intend to strengthen biosecurity measures in livestock holdings,” the official said.
At the same time, Scripnic said that until late 2024, with the support of the World Bank, a modern complex for the collection and processing of animal by-products, which were not meant for human consumption would be built in Criuleni.
The international symposium Modern solutions to prevent economic losses in the poultry sector was organized in Chisinau, with the support of the Consolidated Agricultural Projects Management Unit. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
