The average monthly salary (gross nominal) in 2021 was 8,979.8 lei, up by 13.1% YoY.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the average monthly salary (nominal net) was 7634.8 lei, up by 15.4%. The number of employees late last year was 739.6 thousand people, up by 0.1%.
The highest values of the average gross monthly salary were registered in the following activities: information and communications – 22137.7 lei and financial and insurance activities – 15746.9 lei.
At the same time, the lowest values of the average monthly salary were recorded in accommodation and catering activities – 5249.9 lei and agriculture, as well as forestry and fishing activities – 5691.1 lei.
Compared to 2020, in all economic activities there were increases in the average salary of 3% to 28.2%. The most significant increases were achieved in health and social assistance – by 28.2%, information and communications – by 24.4 and financial and insurance activities – by 15.6%.
