Lithuania’s Economy and Innovation Ministry held a conference in Vilnius on July 12 to bring together politicians and representatives of the business and expert community to discuss plans of rebuilding Ukraine.
Economy and Innovation Minister Ausrine Armonaite says Lithuania can demonstrate leadership to the whole world by providing not only military and political assistance to Ukraine and its people but also making proposals on rebuilding the country’s infrastructure and economy.
It is vital to rebuild infrastructure critical to the functioning of the state she says, adding that the top priority is the reconstruction of hospitals and polyclinics, roads and bridges, water, electricity, gas and heating infrastructure.
Moreover, conference participants discussed Ukraine’s post-war rebuilding, which was not only about rebuilding buildings and infrastructure but also about modernising institutions and economic recovery.
A new platform and new financial instrument, the so-called Rebuilt Ukraine Facility, is also being created to consolidate all support, including that from international institutions and EU member states. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
