A Bayraktar drone crowdfunded by people in Lithuania has already been delivered to Ukraine, Lithuanian Defence Minister Arvydas Anusauskas has said.
“The Ukrainians have announced that they have received the Bayraktar Hawk from us,” Anusauskas said in a Facebook post on July 8.
Crowdfunded during a campaign by Laisves TV and Andrius Tapinas, the drone was named Vanagas (Hawk).
Baykar, a Turkish UAV manufacturer, decided to donate the drone after Lithuanians raised 5.9 million euros for its purchase.
The money was then used to equip the drone with weapons, while the rest of the funds was earmarked for humanitarian aid. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
