A Bayraktar combat drone has been delivered to Lithuania to be handed over to Ukraine, Defence Minister Arvydas Anusauskas said on July 4.
“The Bayraktar “Vanagas” (Hawk) with all the bought ammunition is already in Lithuania!” the minister wrote on Twitter.
“On July 6, we will have a quick presentation of it in the Siauliai Air Base, and after that, its further path is to Ukraine,” he added.
On July 6, Lithuania will celebrate Statehood Day or King Mindaugas Coronation Day.
At the end of May, Lithuanian people raised over 5 million euros in three days to buy a Bayraktar military drone for Ukraine. Inspired by the initiative, the Turkish manufacturer gifted the drone to Lithuania to be handed over to Ukraine.
The Defence Ministry used some 1.5 million euros donated by Lithuanians to equip the Bayraktar drone with missiles. The Internet broadcaster Laisves TV, the fundraiser, has decided to use the remaining sum for other forms of assistance to Ukraine. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
