The export of Lithuania-origin goods grew by over 30% YoY in the first quarter of 2022, totaling more than EUR 6 billion in revenue, Lithuania’s department of statistics reported.
“We see that the government’s efforts to diversify export markets and work with like-minded countries, especially by strengthening political and economic ties with the United States, are bearing fruit,” said Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
“Economic diplomacy teams around the world are ready to help Lithuanian business open new markets, he added.
Latvia, Poland and Germany remain the main export partners.
With a two-fold increase in exports of Lithuanian origin to Poland, the country became the largest export partner of Lithuanian origin ahead of Germany. Exports to Germany of almost all major export categories – Lithuanian furniture, wood, electrical machinery and equipment, plastics – grew by around 30%.
In 2021, the US became the second-largest export market of Lithuanian origin for the first time, with a 75% growth. In the first quarter of 2022, exports of Lithuanian origin to the US continued to grow. (LRT/Business World Magazine)
