The sales of new cars in Ukraine in January increased by 40.6% YoY, to 6,620 units, which was a new post-crisis record for this month, according to AUTO-Consulting.
According to analysts, such a rapid increase in sales was due to the exchange rate “fever”, which forced consumers to make faster decisions about the purchase of cars whose prices were rising more slowly than the U.S. dollar exchange rate was changing.
“In addition, many orders for cars were made before the New Year, and in January the deals were closed,” they added.
The leader, as in last year’s January, was Toyota, which almost doubled sales and occupied 14% of the market. Renault stably ranks second (with a share of 8.9%), followed by Volkswagen (8.7%).
Skoda (the fourth in the rating) and Nissan (the fifth) are raising sales, while Mazda almost doubled sales.
The Uzbek brand Ravon tripled sales. This brand in January already became number eight in Ukraine, although a year ago it was in the “tail” of the second twenty.
According to AUTO-Consulting, from premium brands Audi ranked first in January. It increased sales almost 3-fold, which allowed the brand to gain a foothold in the top ten of the Ukrainian market. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
